The future of the historic St. James Hotel will be discussed on Tuesday.
The ad-hoc committee for the St. James will discuss proposals for the future of the hotel at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the council chamber.
The proposals all concern leasing or buying the hotel from the city.
“I understand that we have three to four proposals for the St. James,” Ward 2 councilwoman and chair of the St. James Committee Susan Keith said. “Once we review the proposals, we will meet with the person who presented the individual proposal and we will present a recommendation to the overall council for a vote.”
The city has been operating the St. James hotel since Aug. 1, when Gourmet Services LLC ended its five-year management contract after only six months.
A number of volunteers and part-time employees currently operate the hotel. In the five months of city operation, the hotel has generated approximately $14,000 in revenue and had $39,000 in expenses. The city also transferred $25,000 to help run the hotel earlier in the year.
