Taylorville Family Entertainment Center hosted its community awareness night donating to such organizations as Selma Area Food Bank, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Goodwill.

A drawing was held for participants who donated to the cause. Prizes ranged from T-shirts to cash.

Some of Selma’s youth showcased their talents by providing the crowd with entertainment. Taylorville was full of young faces who came out to support the establishment. Excitement and energy filled the building as Taylorville’s employees gathered to sing the Taylorville song as spectators watched with smiling faces.

“It’s something for the youth to do,” 22-year-old Kathleen Heard said.

Dr. Bruce Taylor opened Taylorville’s doors in April and envisioned a safe, family friendly environment.

Rosilen Sturdivant sees Taylorville as a way of giving back to the community. The entertainment center has games varying from laser tag to basketball and a plethora of fun and excitement for all ages.

“It invites diversity with youth and symbolizes economic growth,” Twanya Dixon said, “ Dr. Taylor is showing he wants to be a part of Selma by inviting children of various religions and backgrounds with a positive place to enjoy.”

Taylor provided each participant in Taylorville’s “Donate Life” with Taylorville cards as an appreciation to its supporters.

“It started out a job and I put my heart into it,” Jamie Rushing, 18, said.
