Selma and Dallas County residents have until Dec. 31 to pay property taxes.
The deadline for both city and property taxes is the end of the December.
City residents can pay property taxes in person, by mail or by calling city hall with a credit card number. City hall will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 and 27. It will reopen on Dec. 30. All mail must be postmarked by Dec. 31, according to Tax and License Department employee Rodney Reece.
Both city and county residents are required to pay Dallas County property tax.
County property taxes can be paid by mail, at the Dallas County Courthouse, by phone at 866-538-6713, or online at www.dallascountyproperty-tags.com.
County tax collector Tammy King said all mail must be postmarked by Dec. 31 and sent to P.O. Box 987, Selma AL. 36702
The county tax collector’s office will be closed on Dec. 25 and 26. It will reopen on Dec. 27 and have normal business hours until Dec. 31.
Delinquent payments for both city and county property taxes will be assessed a $5 dollar fee.
If Selma or Dallas County residents haven’t received a property tax notice in the mail, Reece said to call city hall at (334) 874-2111. Likewise, King said residents should call her office immediately at (334) 876-4853 if they haven’t received a property tax notice.
