The Walton Theater’s final event of the year will feature a nationally known music artist and is already sold out.

The Blackbelt Benefit Group will host Art Jam at 7 p.m. on Dec. 27 at the Walton Theater. The performance includes a performance by Jason Isbell, a musician from North Alabama.

VIP passes will be admitted starting at 5 p.m. to view the art show and general admission passes will be able to get in at 6 p.m. Once the main music performance begins at 7 p.m., the general public can view the art show for free.

The idea behind the show is to give young Selma residents something fun to do, but also attract people from out of town, Blackbelt Benefit Group member Clay Carmichael said.

“We kind of want to show off what Selma has to offer and we think the Walton Theater is a good venue,” Carmichael said. “And, when we first got together we just decided we wanted to bring some entertainment to liven Selma up a little bit and make Selma an attractive place for young people.”

The art show will include several local artists. VIP passes also allow attendees to enjoy food from Tally Ho and Mark’s Mart.

There are currently no more tickets left for the event, but Carmichael said those interested should check the event’s Facebook page to see if anyone with a ticket is unable to make it.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to charity. ArtsRevive will also receive a small portion of the proceeds from the art show.
