Three teenage boys are behind bars and authorities say another will soon join them following the Saturday afternoon beating and robbery of a 10-year-old boy.
Ly. Curtis Muhannad said the three teenagers are all facing a single count of third-degree robbery, a class C felony in Alabama, and have been booked into the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center where they are awaiting a juvenile hearing.
Muhannad said the parents of the 10-year-old boy alerted police that their son had been beaten Saturday afternoon while riding his Moped in the 2600 block of Etheridge Avenue in Selma.
The victim was able to escape the incident with only minor bruises after being beaten about the head and face and then dragged.
Muhannad said the stolen Moped was later located nearby in an abandoned residence in the 2500 block of Eugene Avenue.
A fourth male juvenile has been identified in connection with the robbery, and Muhannad said a Juvenile Pickup Order would be issued shortly for his arrest.
