Mrs. Claudette Frances Johnson Miller

Mrs. Claudette Frances Johnson Miller was born January 26, 1936, in Selma, Alabama, to the late Pearlie Murphy Thomas Johnson and Francis Averett “Frank” Johnson.

She was the youngest of 14 children to Pearlie Johnson and the youngest of two daughters to Frank Johnson.

She confessed Christ at the age of seven and taught BTU as a teenager. She was known for her inspirational and melodic voice as a student at R.B. Hudson High School and she graduated in 1954. She attended Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Graveside services will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery, Rev. Raymond Brown and Rev. Rodney Morton officiating in case of inclement weather services will be conducted at Miller Funeral Service in Selma. Melvin Miller Funeral Service of Marion will be directing service.

Claudette leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters and one son, Phillis Thomas of Montgomery, AL, Angela (Robert) Smiley, Melvin (Shenita) Miller II, and Pearlie Miller, Selma, AL; five grandsons, Gerald Thomas (Katherine) of Ft. Riley, KS, Melvin Miller III of Montgomery, AL, Frank McDaniel of Birmingham, AL, Niko Melvin Shibenlist of Germany, Wesley Thomas of Montgomery; three granddaughters, Leigh Ann Thomas of Montgomery, AL, Michelle (Jafous) Berry of Troy, AL,Rebecca Smiley of Selma, AL; two loving sisters, Alice T. Rogers of Selma,AL, and Rebecca T. Jennings of Atlantic City, NJ; a devoted niece, Cynthia Mitchell of Selma, AL; a devoted cousin, Mamie Thomas of Selma, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00p.m. at Miller Funeral Service in Selma.
