Concordia duo to play in USA Football Bowl

Concordia College Alabama running back Terrell Edwards-Maye and wide receiver David Hampton have accepted invitations to participate in the 20th USA Football Bowl Jan. 20.
The game will be played at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium at 1 p.m. on Martin Luther King Day. Edwards-Maybe and Hampton became the first two Hornets to be invited to participate in the game.
Edwards-Maye, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior from New Orleans, La finished eighth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association in all-purpose yardage with 810 total yards in 10 games played.
Edwards-Maye ran for 99 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown and caught 13 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, but his biggest contribution to the Hornets was on special teams.
The running back had 28 kickoff returns for 620 yards and scored a touchdown.
Hampton, a 6-foot-6 200-pound senior, led the Hornets with 32 receptions in seven games for 428 yards and four touchdowns. He finished second on the Hornets in all-purpose yards, behind only Edwards-Maye.
Each player played a huge role on Concordia’s offense, which averaged 276.2 yards per game.
The USA Football Bowl Festival will include the USA College Football Awards Banquet Jan. 19, where national awards for FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA, NCCAA and USCAA schools will be presented.
The five day, four night event will conclude Jan. 21 with the USA Professional Football League’s Testing Combine.
The Hornets duo was one of five players from the USCAA to be invited to participate in the event. Other players from the USCAA include The Apprentice School’s Marlon Lane, Lindenwood-Bellevue’s Philepae Phillips, Southern Virginia’s Dontrell Sanford and Alfred State’s Mike Groat and Devin Simmons.
