A Selmont man in his 40s is recovering from a shotgun blast to the shoulder, after being confronted by two hooded thieves Wednesday on Durant Circle.

According to Lt. Curtis Muhannad with the Selma Police Department, officers were called to the Selmont area before noon Wednesday, where they found the victim lying in the street.

“He was able to describe the two suspects as wearing hooded sweatshirts and wearing masks made from blue bandanas,” Muhannad said. “At this point, there is not a whole lot of information we have. Once the victim was shot, he did not notice which way the suspects left.”

Muhannad said the two suspects walked up to the victim, and said “Give it up. We know you have it.” Muhannad said the victim told the suspects he didn’t have anything right before he was shot in the left shoulder.

Muhannad said the injury was not life-threatening.

“We are canvassing the community seeing if there were any witnesses or anyone who might have noticed the suspects walking in the area,” Muhannad said.

Although the victim did not notice which direction the suspects headed, he did tell police the suspects fled the area on foot.
