A shooting last week at Craig Field has resulted in the arrest of a Selma man.

Darius Gayle, 28, of 29 Eden St. is charged with attempted murder.

Sgt. Mike Grantham of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said a couple of men began arguing over a dominoes game.

“The verbal argument escalated into a pushing thing,” he said.

Eyewitnesses told investigators Gayle pulled out a handgun and fired. The bullet hit the victim under his left arm, Grantham said.

The victim, who was not identified by officers, was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, then later to a hospital in Montgomery.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Gayle is in Dallas County Jail under no bond.
