Jodie M. Potts

On February 17, 2014, Jodie M. Potts died in Thomasville. Georgia. She was born on November 20,
1922 in Corsicana. Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace F. Potts, her parents, five half-sisters and one half-brother.
Remaining family are two sons, Jack M. Potts and wife Michele, Robert L. Potts, two grandsons,
Thomas R. Potts and Gregory M. Potts, one great grandson, Jonathon R. Potts and nieces Barbara
Middleton and Tamara Winchell. The C. W Nelson family and Marie Chambers were special in her life.
Traveling was a great part of her life as she followed her military husband on his various assignments. They lived in many different stateside places, resided two years in Japan, three years in France, visited Hawaii, Korea and Mexico. Final assignment was Tampa, Florida where they lived for seventeen years. During this time she worked for General Portland Cement in Personnel
management.
In 1973 a move was made to Selma. Alabama and she resided there until 2006. She was Assistant
Treasurer of the Hammermill Credit Union and served as a volunteer for twenty one years with the
Vaughan Hospital Auxiliary in Selma. After her husband’s death she moved to Thomasville and enjoyed the last years of her life in this lovely little southern city.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Friday, February 21, 2014 at Lawrence Brown-Service
Funeral Home in Selma, Alabama. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, Alabama.
