Troopers: Selma man killed in Friday accident

SELMONT — A Selma man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday night on U.S. Highway 80 in Selmont.
According to Alabama State Troopers, Kirkpatrick Kendrick Tate, 22, was killed when the 1995 Honda Accord he was driving collided with a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by Burnette Lee, 55, of Austell, Ga.
Troopers said Tate was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was ejected from the car in the collision.
Lee, along with three other passengers in her vehicle, were transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment to their injuries
Troopers reported the accident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Friday night at the 87.5 mile marker on U.S. Highway 80, two miles east of Selma. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
