Two Selma High School students are behind bars and both are facing a charge of robbery 1st degree after authorities say they attempted to rob another SHS student over the weekend.

Lt. Curtis Muhannad with the Selma Police Department said Edward Marshall and Kahmaul Jones, both 17, are both being charged as adults and facing the charges, which come with a $60,000 bond for both of the accused, following an incident that occurred early Saturday morning.

Muhannad said a 15-year-old Selma High School student told police they were picked up from their residence in an SUV driven by Jones while Marshall sat in the back seat.

The victim told authorities they had been told they were going to go to a local store to purchase new Jordan sneakers, but once the victim entered the vehicle it was driven to the 200 block of McDonald Avenue where Marshall then held a gun to the back of the victim’s head and demanded money.

Muhannad said the victim leaped from the vehicle at that time and sustained injuries before being able to find shelter and assistance from a resident in the area.

Marshall was picked up from Selma High School at 1 p.m. on Monday by detectives from the Selma Police Department, and Jones was apprehended at his home.

Muhannad said both were then transported to the police department’s headquarters and interviewed about the incident. Following the interviews, the police contacted the District Attorney’s office and recommended both be charged as adults and face the charge of robbery 1st degree.
