Two men are in jail after allegedly robbing a gas station on U.S. 80 Wednesday morning.
Jonathan Darryl Adams, 18, of Butler was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and no license to carry a concealed weapon. Thomas Earl Gregory III, 23, of Valley, was charged with first-degree robbery and ex-felon in possession of a firearm. Both were booked into the Dallas County Jail without a bond.
The incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. when Selma Police officers received a call about a robbery on the 3700 block of U.S. 80 West. The caller, a clerk at the fuel station, said two white males were parked on the west side of the building and acting suspiciously, according to a news release.
The release said a clerk walked to her car, parked near the suspects, and heard one of the men cock a weapon.
When the clerk returned to the store, employees locked the door and called police.
Adams and Gregory allegedly approached the story from separate angles.
One wore a superman cap and came to the front door, according to the release. The suspect wearing the superman cap used a red handkerchief to cover his face.
By the time, the suspects discovered the door was locked, a marked Selma Police Department Car entered the parking lot, according to the release.
The suspects ran back to enter their vehicle, but were met by a Dallas County sheriff’s deputy, who also responded to the call.
After Adams and Gregory were detained, police officers found a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, a 30-30 Winchester Level Action Rifle and another rifle with a scope attached.
The statement said police also found several large knives, liquor and other items that appeared to be taken during a burglary.
First-degree robbery is a class A felony. The statement said both suspects may face additional charges.
