The Little Lamb Consignment Sale is inviting the public to an event that will allow them to grab a sweet deal while benefiting the community.

The organization has scheduled its spring children’s consignment sale at Old National Guard Armory on West Dallas Avenue April 4 at 5:30 p.m. and April 5 at 8 a.m. After the sales end, the store will decide which local charities will receive 25 percent of the proceeds.

“We want to help where it’s needed,” Little Lamb chairwoman Claire Gibbs said.

Thousands of children’s items will be available, including spring and summer clothes fitted for sizes newborns through juniors, shoes, smocked dressed, school uniforms, toys, books, beds, strollers, high chairs, walkers, car seats and more. Mothers can purchase some items for themselves at the sale, such as maternity clothes, shoes, handbags and luggage.

Shoppers can also visit their special sale April 3 at the Old National Guard Armory at 7:15 p.m. with an admission fee of $5. The proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to the Wannabe Rescue program, which pairs pet lovers with abandoned animals.

“We usually try to keep within a charity that kind of helps children out, but we know that Wannabe Rescue works so hard for all these animals in Selma everywhere,” Gibbs said. “They put a lot of money and time into that, and a lot of people’s animals are their children.”

Since Little Lamb began in 1998, they have been able to generate $90,080 in donations for local charities, such as Alabama Teen Challenge, Selma Area Food Bank, the Journey School, the Salvation Army and others.

Gibbs said the store is hoping to raise that total to $100,000 by the end of the spring sale.
