Less than 48 hours after the Cahaba Furniture robbery took place, the Selma Police Department made an arrest charging Frederick Brown, 27, of Selma with the crime.
According to Sgt. Doug Stewart, leads obtained by Detective Ronald Jones lead to additional charges.
“His leads not only led to the arrest of the robbery suspect in this offense but he was also able to arrest the offender on charges involving another theft,” he said.
Jones arrested Brown on charges of robbery, first degree and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Brown remains in Dallas County Jail on $160,000 in bonds.
Cahaba Furniture owner Kim Harris said she was relieved to hear about the arrest.
“I just thank God,” she said. “I am so happy. The officers had come by with some photos and I was able to identify him. I think they had a pretty good idea of who it might be.’
Authorities, Harris said, had footage of Brown on the RBC video camera, which she believes led them to the positive identification and arrest.
Knowing the suspect is in custody, Harris said, has eased her mind tremendously.
“Now he won’t hurt anybody else,” she said.
