The dry, warm forecast for this weekend has motocross enthusiasts thinking they can finally see some racing at the new track at Yeargan Farms

Angie Yeargan, co-owner of Yeargan Farms, and she said the track will be open for racing both Saturday and Sunday this weekend after wet weather caused the cancelation of two different planned motocross racing events earlier this year.

“We are very excited because it is the perfect forecast this weekend. And we have a lot of people bringing their campers and tents so they can stay for both days of racing,” Yeargan said.

She said the gates will open at 7 a.m. both days for riders to register for the day’s races, which she expects to begin around 9:30 a.m. after all the riders have had time to prepare themselves and their bikes for the new track.

While heavy rain has caused the previous events to be canceled, Yeargan said they have also left the track in perfect shape for this weekend.

“It’s actually a blessing we’ve been rained out, because you always want your first impression of the track to be great because you want people to come back,” Yeargan said. “And with all the rain we’ve had it wet the track to it’s in the best shape it has ever been in.”

Speaking with the Times-Journal earlier, Noah Bohannan, who runs the Central Alabama Motocross Series, said he was ready to see how the riders like the new track.

“They have built a nice track down there and I know our drivers are ready to get there and try it out,” Bohannon said.

CAMS runs a 21-race schedule, and four of the races scheduled to take place at Yeargan Farms this season.

After this weekend, Yeargan said the next scheduled motocross event at Yeargan Farms will take place on July 5 and 6, which she said will last several days and include a 4th of July celebration.

“That event is going to be more than a race, and we are planning to have a lot of activities besides just racing since it will be July 4th weekend,” Yeargan said.
