Poppies crucial to VFW programs

Dear editor,
Well November is here again. We will be celebrating Veterans Day on Nov. 11, and it is time once again for the annual Buddy Poppy Drive. The Veterans of Foreign Wars, members of the Ladies Auxiliary to Selma Post 3016 and the Jr. ROTC of Southside High School will be stationed at locations all around Selma to distribute Buddy Poppies for donations. The money gathered for these Poppies will be put into a relief fund that is used to help disabled or needed veterans, their widows, dependents and their families.
You have always stepped up and helped us make this annual event a huge success. We are asking again for your help. In the past Dallas County and the surrounding counties have gone beyond what we have asked to help the Veterans. We made over $1,200 dollars last year. We are truly grateful for the community support. We ask again that they give from the heart. Please dig deep in their pockets and find it in their hearts to help with our Buddy Poppy Drive.
Again we would like to say Thank You to WDXX and the Selma Times Journal for your assistance in this drive. We would also like to say a big heartfelt thank you to the people of Selma, all of Dallas County and to all of the surrounding counties that make our Buddy Poppy Drive a success.
