A man taken into custody in June after nearly a year on the run was arrested Monday evening for attempted murder and reckless endangerment.

Nelson Ellis, 56, 404 Caisson Drive, is currently being held at Dallas County Jail under a total bond of $262, 000 for attempted murder and two counts of reckless endangerment after allegedly shooting a 20-year-old woman on July 25, 2013 with his nephew Leon Ellis. The victim was shot in the thigh with a shotgun on the 1600 block of Vickery Street in Selma and suffered minor injuries, according to Lt. Curtis Muhammad with the Selma Police Department.

Leon Ellis turned himself in to the Selma Police within a week of the 2013 shooting.

According to Selma Police, the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force was able to locate Nelson Ellis in his girlfriend’s Memphis residence with some help from surveillance. U.S. Marshalls arrived at the residence and took him into custody shortly after.

The bond hearing for Nelson Ellis has been set for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in circuit court with Judge Bob Armstrong presiding.
