Jean Watters

Jean Watters passed away at home on Saturday, August 16th.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Pine Flat Baptist Cemetery with Micheal Brooks presiding and Kirk Funeral Home officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Flat Cemetery Fund.

Pallbearers will be Woody, Ruben, James, Jonathan, Joseph, and Harrison Watters. She was born May 4, 1928in Sprott, Alabama to R.O. and Claude Bolling Watters, who preceded her in death along with four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her sister, Frances Smoot, Montgomery, Alabama. Surviving also are a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.

She was a long time member of Pine Flat Baptist Church. She graduated from Suttle High School where she received a Good Citizenship Award from the D.A.R. She graduated from Druid City Hospital of Nursing where she attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was employed as a nurse over 60 years at: Druid City Tuscaloosa, VA Hospital Houston, Texas, VA Hospital Birmingham, Alabama, Jefferson County Health Department, Vaughn Hospital, and Warren Manor Nursing Home, Selma, Alabama.
