Local football season will all but end Friday night

With only one playoff team in the county, high school football season will all but wind down this weekend in the Dallas County and Selma area.
It’s a shame too.
It always feels like the anticipation for football season is so high, but then the season unfortunately races past so quickly. This weekend six county teams are in action, with Meadowview Christian having already played its final game of the year last week.
Since this is the final week of the regular season, we encourage the local community to fight the cold weather and do its part by being at the games and cheering on our local players, cheerleaders and band members.
They all deserve a big round of applause.
One county team, Ellwood Christian, has qualified for the Alabama High School Athletic Association playoffs.
We congratulate the Eagles, who hope to make a deep run this year. We’ll be watching.
But we also want to thank everyone — parents, local businesses, and everyone involved in the county’s football programs — for their support of the local teams this year.
It’s a long wait until next football season, but as of Saturday morning six of our area high schools can start the clock. Let the anticipation begin.
