The Selma Police Department has released more details concerning the 28-year-old man that was struck by a vehicle Friday.
The accident occurred on the 200 block of Highland Avenue.
A Selma man was crossing the highway from a laundromat toward Papa John’s Pizza when he was hit by a 2007 Volkswagen Passat.
“I got a witness who said he [the pedestrian] walked and stepped in front of him, but he was able to stop in time,” Sgt. Roy Nix, the Selma traffic division commander. “The guy paused for a moment and started walking again, and then he was hit by another vehicle, which was traveling west.”
The pedestrian was responsive immediately following the incident.
“The way it sounded, he was hit, rolled off the car, got up and walked around a little bit and then sat down on the curb,” Nicks said.
The man was transported to Vaughn Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment Friday.
Nix said Wednesday, that as far as he knows, the pedestrian is in stable condition.
