Although the weather is unseasonably warm, it’s officially December and the countdown to Christmas is getting smaller and smaller by the second.

Before we all know it, Santa Claus will come to town, New Years Day will have passed, and we will start making resolutions for 2015.

First, let’s enjoy the last month of 2014.

There’s plenty to do in Selma in December, including the Christmas parade Saturday that will begin at the intersection of Washington Street and Water Avenue, before traveling along Broad Street and Furniss Avenue.

If that isn’t enough to get in you in the holiday mood, Santa’s appearance in the parade might do the trick.

The Selma Mall is also holding a Holiday Bazaar Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. All kinds of goodies, including baked goods and arts and crafts will be sold at the bazaar.

For those that need help sprucing up their house this holiday season, look no farther than the Vaughan Room at the Dallas County Public Library Tuesday. The Dallas County Extension Office will be sharing ideas on how to make table decorations and how to make bows, two things that will come in handy during the holiday season. Orrville and Selma will also hold tree lighting ceremonies this week.

This is going to be a fun month in Selma, as we wind down 2014. Get out and enjoy it.
