Roundup: Keith, Meadowview, Selma teams pick up Tuesday wins

Keith 69, Francis Marion 53 (boys)

Keith’s John Pettway flirted with a triple-double in Tuesday night’s 69-53 win over Francis Marion.

Pettway lit up the Rams, scoring 43 points, pulling down 10 rebounds and adding six steals to lead the Keith boys (4-3). Jaquan Simmons added 16 for the Bears and Dalven Johnson added nine more. Between them, Pettway, Simmons and Johnson scored 68 of the Bears’ 69 points and made every successful Keith field goal attempt.

Keith’s girls also won, defeating Francis Marion 59-33.

Both teams will play at Selma Friday in their next game.

 

Meadowview Christian 58, Marion Ccademy 37 (boys)

Behind big nights from Johnny Maul and Justin McGuire, Meadowview Christian’s boys defeated Marion Academy 58-37 Tuesday.

Maul and McGuire each scored 16 points to lead the way for the Trojans, Alan Stockman also added 11 for Meadowview (4-1).

 

Meadowview christian 49, Marion Academy 12 (girls)

The Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans   (3-2) had no problems with Marion Academy, winning 49-12. Christina Dabit scored 13 points, Mallory Freine had 12 and Hannah Barnes added six.

 

Selma 69, Chilton County 39 (boys)

The Selma boys and girls teams started area play with runaway victories Tuesday night.

The Saints’ boys defeated Chilton County 69-39 behind double-doubles from Michael Griffin and Aderick Moore.

Griffin scored 10 points and added 10 rebounds, while Moore had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Marshall Woods also scored 14 points for Selma and Greg Kelly added 13 more.

 

Selma 53, Chilton County 9 (Girls)

Selma’s Lady Saints (5-4) dominated Chilton County 53-9.

Areyana Williams scored 11 points and Jamya Smith and Jacquetta Dailey each scored 10. In all, 10 different Lady Saints scored in the game.

Selma led 37-4 at halftime. Both teams host Keith Friday.

 

Evangel Christian 63,  Morgan Academy 51 (Boys) 

John Ross Bone led Morgan Academy with 18 points Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough as the Senators fell to Evangel Christian 63-51.

Morgan rallied from a 14 point first half deficit, cutting the lead to five with five minutes left to play and then ran out of gas.

Harrison Adams scored nine for the Senators. Del Lewis led Evangel with 13 points.
