Mr. Loamy Jasper Perry

Mr. Loamy Jasper Perry, age 93, of Selma, died at Park Place Nursing Home on December 8, 2014. He was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Maplesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hugh and Florence Perrin Perry of Maplesville; his wife of 49 years, Frances Ham Perry; wife, Polly Mitchell Perry; son, John (Ray) Perry and sisters Willie Mae Adams and Alice Ruth Humphries.
He is survived by his three daughters, Mary Frances (Roy) Keyes of Petal, Miss., Linda (Ralph Wayne) Booker of Port Neches, Texas and Gail (Marvin) Smitherman of Selma; four step-daughters, Linda Irwin and her husband, Edward Paulk of Prattville, Connie (David) Weaver of Atlanta, Melissa (Jim) Kenan of Vestavia and Sandy Mitchell of Selma; grandchildren, Bert (Judy) Long of Selma, James Bennett of Petal, Miss., Robert (Jackie) Booker of Austin, Texas, Ralph Wayne (Yelena) Booker of Germany, Ashley Irwin and Ben Irwin of Prattville, Francine and Will Kenan of Vestavia, Christopher Weaver of Atlanta, Sabrina (Mike Leonard) Smitherman of Birmingham, Holly (Josh) Sigmon of Conover, NC; great-granchildren, Richard Long of Selma, Tyler Booker of Port Neches, TX, Dario Booker of Germany, Kailani Sigmon of Conover, N.C. and Aiden Booker of Austin, Texas; one sister, Wilma Mauldin of Las Cruces, NM; sister-in-law, Barbara Ham of Pelham and special friends, Ginnie Burrill, Betty Moorer Tucker and Shannon Cooper.
L. J. was a Selma businessman for forty years, working as manager of Baggett Transportation Company. He was a member of the Selma Lions Club, where he served faithfully each year for the Central Alabama Fair and Alabama Sight Foundation. He was a member of the Elks Club and Moose Lodge where he enjoyed cooking the barbeque for special events using his special sauce. He was also a member of the Cunningham Class at First Baptist Church for many years until his health declined.His service will be held at Selma Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Dr. Jerry Light officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens. A special thanks to the staff of Park Place Nursing Home who made his stay as pleasant as possible. He made many special friends while he was a resident.
