Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated was founded in 1938. Jack and Jill of America Foundation, Inc. is the philanthropic arm of the organization. The Selma Chapter was organized in 1990, one of seven chapters in the Alabama with four additional states in the southeastern region. Past signature projects in Selma were the City-Wide Easter Egg Hunt at the Smitherman Museum, Breakfast with Santa and Adopt-a-Grandparent. The chapter was reorganized with numerous awards in various competitions on the state and regional levels. The Selma Chapter Charter members will reorganize an “interest group of women who are parents of children ages 2-19.

The “new generation of mothers” will plan children’s activities for Selma-Dallas County and surrounding areas. Programs that coincide with regional and national guidelines will be implemented. Mothers will comprise the membership and provide opportunities for their children and seek to include other children to experience the same advantages. Activities may include: leadership, wellness, creativity, public speaking, career development and community service. Service obligations to the foundation will support children globally.
