School improvement plans best for district

We hope that the school improvement plans presented during the Selma City School Board’s latest meeting will stand as examples of plans manifesting into a great outcome.
The school improvement plans are required every year and created by the School Improvement Committee, which is made up of stakeholders responsible for establishing the issues that need to be tackled within the following year.
The most common suggestions were to upgrade some of the technological equipment, encourage more parental involvement and increase reading comprehension.
The plans are necessary, but it’s up to the school district to decide whether or not they should be presented before the board for approval.
Because the board did approve them this year, the public was given an opportunity to hear what would be addressed within the plan.
We felt it provided a great opportunity for the Selma City Schools to provide Selma with key information in a public manner. Such transparency has the potential to build on the relationship between local residents and the city school district.
With the school board currently under a state intervention, the Selma community appears even more interested in having access to essential information within the system.
We’re look forward to the pleasant changes that will come once the schools have implemented the details outlined in each plan using its Title I funds.
No matter how small, each improvement has the power to help transform the Selma City School System into an even greater district.
We hope the system continues to look within itself to determine what needs to be done for it to reach its full potential. That simple action is the key to growth.
