Police put lives on line everyday

On a recent television program, one of the left’s commentator puppets suggested taking guns away from the police. Now, there is a novel and original idea like most other idiotic solutions liberals come up with.
Yep, that should just about do it, disarm the police and stop the violence. You have to wonder what planet these people have been living on.
The only protection from thugs, drug dealers and violent people most intercity dwellers have is the thin blue line. In most instances, the police are the last line of defense, and the only ones willing to place their life on the line for the protection of those in need.
This vendetta against police officers is naïve and stupid. It does nothing but encourage more violence against those sworn to serve and protect. Facts are an elusive thing this day and age.
People are much more inclined to believe whatever poison the spindoctors are serving up. The facts are, policemen are attacked and killed by criminals and those opposed to police authority in general. Unfortunately, there are some folks who have no respect for authority, the rule of law, and the safety and well being of others.
“Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom. No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles,” said Patrick Henry.
In 2014, there were 125 policemen killed in the line of duty according to the website, Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP). Of those 125 dedicated civil servants, 59 were killed by some form of assault. Gunfire took the life of 47, assault 2 and another 10 by vehicular assault.
Almost half of the 125 killed in the line of duty were victims of violence against policemen. The gender breakdown was 121 men and four women. The average age of officers killed was 40 years and the length of service 12 years and 4 months.
Yet we still expect them to use force only as a last resort.
If we lived in a perfect world, there would be no need for policemen. However, that is not the case and policemen work in some of the most dangerous places on earth and under the most stressful conditions. Unfortunately, there are some bad people out there and policemen are called upon to deal with them.
I agree with those who consider their heroes the police men and women who work the streets and neighborhoods, the firefighters who rush into burning, collapsing buildings to rescue a small child or elderly person and the young men and women in our armed services who raise their right hand and pledge to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
