Alice Aurene Fuller Dennis, 86, of Dadeville, passed away on May 13, 2015, in Selma.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was born to Henry Grady Fuller and Josie Aurene Patterson Fuller on January 29, 1929, in Muscogee County, Ga.

Alice lived in and around her home in Dadeville during her married life of 54 years. She was married to Horace Leon Dennis, who she met on a blind date. They were married on November 19, 1946, in Tallapoosa County. Horace and Alice spent many hours together fishing, hunting and enjoying family gatherings. They raised two daughters, Amelia Aurene Dennis Bowers (John) of Selma, and Debra Leigh Dennis Hopson (Les) of Gurley.

Alice and Horace welcomed others freely to their home and table. They both enjoyed life, not only together, but separately as well.

Alice was very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Dadeville, until she could no longer physically participate and carry out her Sunday school’s outreach position. She taught Sunday school for the four and five-year-olds, the Sunbeam Class, and then moved to G.A.’s as her daughters grew older.

Alice also enjoyed taking art lessons and painted many special paintings for family and friends.

No one who knew her could ever say they had not been helped by her in some way or another.

As a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Alice devoted her energy to the pursuit of excellence, the demonstration of courage and determination.

Through her strong faith in God, she taught others this world has hope, mirroring the patterns set by her parents and grandparents, and reflecting those same patterns to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The lasting legacy she wove with her husband, Horace, is one forged by kind hearts and personal fortitude, and perhaps most memorable of all, a generous and keen sense of humor. They laughed together, loved together and cried together but were quick to laugh and eager to put a smile on someone else’s face.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Leon Dennis; parents, Henry Grady Fuller and Josie Aurene Patterson Fuller; brothers, John Grady Fuller, William Thomas “Billy” Fuller and Joseph “Jobie” Fuller.

Surviving are children, Amelia Aurene Dennis Bowers (John) and Debra Leigh Dennis Hopson (Les); her grandchildren, Dr. Angela Aurene Bowers Concannon (Craig) and Bonnie Elizabeth Bowers Perry (Wes); great grandchildren, Evelyn Aurene Concannon, Lillian Elizabeth Concannon, William Robert Perry and Aurene Elizabeth “Aurie Beth” Perry; niece, Jane Fuller French; and nephew, William Grady Fuller, and children of her brother, John Grady Fuller and wife Belle.
