Mr. Charlie King

Mr. Charlie King, 88, resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Marion, Alabama. Services will be held December 6, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Eagle Grove Baptist Church, Marion, Alabama officiated by Rev. Bailey Dawson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Melvin Miller Funeral Service of Marion.

The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.

Mr. King was born May 17, 1922 in Perry County, Alabama to the late John and Sulina King. His childhood was shared with two sisters and four brothers. He was raised in a Christian home that valued prayer and strong family unity. At an early age, he confessed Christ and joined the Eagle Grove Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing dominoes. Charlie was a hard worker and a good provider for his family.

He worked at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham for several years and later retired from Wilborne Implement and Company in Marion.

Charlie departed this life on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Waters Summit Nursing Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie L. King; one son, Johnnie Lee; a daughter, Margaret King.

He leaves to cherish his memories six children, Ruby King, Dorothy (James) Jackson, Ruth (David) Green, Eula Bynum, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Vera (Willie) Varner, Columbus, Georgia, Charlie (Barbara) King, Jonesboro, Georgia; two brothers, Johnny (Lucy) King, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Cleotha (Betty) King, Buffalo, New York; two sisters, Eula (Arthur) Carlisle, Tuskegee, Alabama, and Queenie (Burt) Pringle, Springfield, Massachusetts; a special niece Willie Mae Crews; special nephews, Charles Lee and Billy King; special cousin and friend, Addie Woods and Willie Smith; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, and other relatives.
