Alabama’s 37th annual Tale-Tellin’ Festival will have a new home this year.
The festival will move to Wallace Community College-Selma’s theater but will continue the family-friendly storytelling traditions begun by its founder Kathryn Tucker Windham.
Those who come out Oct. 9 and 10 will hear from popular storytellers Bil Lepp and Wanda Johnson along with Reggie and Kim Harris.
“We are excited to have such diverse entertainers this year,” said Tale-Tellin’ Chairman Ann Thomas, “Some of them will visit local schools and share their stories with students prior to the festival.”
Look for more on each presenter in future editions of The Selma Times-Journal.
That Saturday will also coincide with the 14th annual Kenan’s Mill Festival that will feature live music, stone-ground cornmeal, arts and crafts and children’s activities and the Alabama Historical Association’s fall pilgrimage to Old Cahawba.
“So bring the whole family,” Thomas said. “There will be plenty to do in Selma, and as Kathryn said, ‘There isn’t anything more important than families that laugh together!’”
Sponsored by ArtsRevive, admission is $15 for adults for one night or $25 both nights, $10 for students ages 9-17 for one night and $15 for both nights, and free for children age eight and under. Tickets will be sold at the door or in advance through PayPal.
The theater is located just north of U.S. Highway 80 at Wallace Community College, 3000 Earl Goodwin Parkway.
