Registration for the Dallas Wilcox Bama Club’s evening with former Alabama football player Billy Johnson is filling up quickly.
The club is hosting Johnson at a speaker event on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Gaines Ridge Dinner Club in Camden. Bama Club President Ronnie Leet said 36 of the 50 available seats have already been claimed.
Johnson was a center for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the mid-to-late 60s. He snapped balls to former Alabama quarterback Ken Stabler and was coached by Paul “Bear” Bryant, Mal Moore and Pat Dye. He will be speaking about his time playing at Alabama at the event.
“With the recent passing of Kenny Stabler and the recent passing of Mal Moore, it gives an opportunity for people to hear his personal experiences playing for those coaches and playing for Kenny Stabler,” Leet said.
Johnson is a native of Wilcox County. He is scheduled to speak at 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 8. The night begins with a social at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:45 p.m.
Members of the Bama Club and Alabama fans need to send a $25 check to the Dallas Wilcox Bama Club if they want to attend.

During the summer, the Bama Club has also been selling raffle tickets for a chance at winning season tickets to all of Alabama’s home football games.
Leet said all 300 of the tickets have been sold and that the winner will be announced on WDXX 100.1 FM on Sept. 2.
The raffle helps fund the club’s main purpose, which is to award scholarship money to local high school seniors who will be attending the University of Alabama.
