A new class will help expecting mothers or those will new bundles of joy adjust to parenthood.
The Dallas County Family Resource Center will offer “The Whole Parent” program, which starts Tuesday and runs for four weeks.
The free class will cover labor and delivery, how to feed and bath a newborn, postpartum changes women can expect and more.
“It’s a very informative class,” said Tammy Lee, program manager for center. “The main purpose is to help people learn how to care for their children.”
In addition to practical knowledge, parents will receive books and even make a toy for their new baby. Mothers are encouraged to attended each class, but don’t have to make every session to participate.
“If they can’t make the first class, they can come to the second — that’s fine,” Lee said. “Ideally, they will come to all.”
The classes will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon until Sept. 17 at the center, which is in the Alagasco building. Fathers are welcome to attend with mothers too. For more information or to reserve a spot in the class, call 874-7782.
