Do you get weary of politicians who constantly come up with excuses as to why nothing can be done about the illegal immigrant problem?

If they spent half as much time on why something can and must be done, it might just happen. My pappy used to say “can’t” never did anything. He was much too wise for our times.

Common sense died and was buried a long time ago in this country. The main reason nothing has been done about the multitudes of illegal entries through the border is politicians do not want to do anything. Democrats want to lock in their votes regardless to whether they are legal or illegal, and Republicans are afraid they will be seen as uncaring, mean spirited, angry old men. So, here we are with millions here entering illegally or by virtue of overstaying their visas with no one calling their hands to leave.

There has to be a solution to it or else we will soon become the United States of South America and Mexico. Is it little wonder Donald Trump is polling so well vying to be the Republican presidential nominee?

Folks are just plain fed up with the establishment politicians talking the issue to death and doing nothing. It has become old and exhausting. They all talk a lot, but nothing gets done. There has to be some serious issues resolved if we are to remain free and independent with a vibrant economy providing jobs and a high standard of living for all our people.

Trump has capitalized on the anger and frustration with elected politicians. A lot of what the Donald is saying resonates with those struggling to make a living, pay the bills and feed the wasteful federal government. His immigration policy as reported on the Trump website begins with three solid principles.

“A nation without borders is not a nation. There must be a wall across the southern border. A nation without laws is not a nation. Laws passed in accordance with our Constitutional system of government must be enforced. A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. Any immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans.”

I find no fault with any of these principles. As far as the wall, critics are saying there are places it can’t be built. However, a wall can be several things in addition to being a bricks and mortar structure.

A wall of separation can be most anything as long as it’s managed. President Eisenhower had a plan that didn’t include a wall and it worked. You might think from all of this I am against immigration, and if so, you would be dead wrong.

I am for legal, orderly, but controlled immigration with limits to the number according to the skills and needs of the country. We no longer have the luxury of taking in all comers and providing for them.
