There is certainly no shortage of activities for the month of October. In fact, it might be one of the busiest months of the year with the long list of activities that are scheduled.
It isn’t uncommon to hear people in Selma say there is nothing to do, but if you can’t find something to do in Selma, you’re just not looking hard enough.
The Central Alabama Fair starts Monday, Oct. 5 and will continue through Saturday, Oct. 10 with rides, food, pageants and more.
If you like to run, there are also plenty of opportunities to do so with three runs scheduled for October. Wallace Community College Selma is hosting a color run to raise awareness for breast cancer Oct. 10, Integrity Worldwide is hosting a run to raise money for a medical clinic in Africa Oct. 17 and Orrville will host a run to raise awareness for breast cancer Oct. 24.
And the month wouldn’t be complete without a ghost tale or two. Selma’s ninth annual Haunted History Tours will visit Old Cahawba Oct. 16 and 24 and Old Live Oak Cemetery Oct. 17. Tickets are available through the Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce.
And, of course, the month will come to a close with the city of Selma’s Trunk or Treat Festival at Phoenix Park Oct. 31.
Those are just a few of the plethora of events going on, so mark your calendar and get ready for a busy month.
