Jaylin White scored two touchdowns, including a 94-yard run with 11.4 seconds left in the second quarter, as the Colts defeated the Broncos 12-0 Monday at Memorial Stadium.

White also added a short touchdown in the first quarter. Most offensive plays the ball ended up in White’s hands. When he didn’t touch it, the Colts were usually running a reverse or double reverse to keep the Broncos on their toes.

“We have to throw some trick plays in because they are looking for him to run all the time,” said Colts coach Michael Davison.

The Broncos had their chances to score too, but two fumbles ended promising drives. In the second quarter, a long run around left end by Tavious Hohenberger put the Broncos in scoring range, but several plays later a fumbled handoff ended the drive.

In the third quarter, the Broncos had crossed midfield and looked like they might get within one score. Instead, a failed toss play resulted in a second lost fumble.

“Too many fumbles,” said Broncos coach Jason Rogers. “Two fumbles in the red zone and they beat us 12-0. Stop them two times on an extra point. If we had got those touchdowns in the red zone, we probably would’ve won the game.”

Both teams are 2-2 on the season.
