The Bears (7-0) completed a perfect season with a 22-0 win over the Colts (3-3) Monday at Memorial Stadium.

Keondre Hope, Sharon Martin and Marquarius Reese ran for touchdowns for the Bears and Zion Small added two two-point conversions in the win. While the offense was impressive, the Bears’ defense deserves a lot of credit too.

The Colts managed only 32 total yards during the game and the majority of those came on the opening drive of the game, which took up the entire first quarter.

“They did unbelievably good,” said Bears head coach C.J. Pritchett. “They worked all year hard. They came out and perfected it every game.”

The Colts kept it interesting for a half.

After getting the ball to begin the game, the Colts methodically moved the ball down the field and drained the first quarter clock. Quarterback Jaylen White carried the ball five times on the drive, including a 14-yard rush, but the Colts had to punt after failing to convert a third-and-14.

The Bears started their drive at the start of the second quarter and it took only three plays for them to score.

Hope ran 43 yards down the visitors sideline to put the Bears up 6-0 with 6:10 left in the second quarter. Small added the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.

The Bears looked like they added another touchdown before half, but a 51-yard rush by Small was brought back for a block in the back.

On the first play of the second quarter, Reese ran 65 yards for a touchdown put the Bears up 14-0.

Small’s two-point rush made it 16-0.

After the Colts were held on downs, the Bears put it away on the last play of the third quarter. Sharod Martin ran 50 yards for a touchdown to put the Bears up 22-0. The two-point try was no good.

“I try to get everybody to run the football,” Pritchett said. “I tell them if you touch the ball and run hard you give your teammates to also get a chance to run,” Pritchett said. “Like tonight, we showed it. We had three different guys score.”

The Bears had 172 yards in the game, with three of their four possessions ending in touchdowns. The one drive that didn’t end with a score was stopped by halftime.

Now they’ll get a chance to complete the perfect season in the 9-and 10-year old playoffs.

“I told them last year was a rebuilding year and the year before that we had an undefeated season … and we are perfect again this year,” Pritchett said. “The perfect season is good for me, and it’s awesome for the kids.”
