Two additional suspects have been arrested in connection to the kidnapping and death of a 29-year-old Maplesville woman.

Hunters found the body of Samantha Payne on Monday near the Tuscaloosa and Hale county line in the Talladega National Forest.

On Thursday, Marcus King George, 34, and Alyssa Sue Watson, 22, were arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping. Both are residents of Centreville and are being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $60,000 bond each.

Earlier in the week, two more Bibb County residents, Michael Belcher, 31, and Chylli Bruce, 18, were charged with capital murder in the case.

According to District Attorney Michael Jackson, Payne’s body was found tied to a tree with stab wounds, but Tuscaloosa County investigators would not confirm that.

Investigators are still working to determine the relationship between Payne and the four suspects charged in her kidnapping and murder.

Belcher and Bruce actually had a run-in with police back on Nov. 2 near where Payne’s body was later found.

On that day, Bruce, along with another man Stephen George, 27, were arrested on drug charges.

Belcher was also spotted walking nearby too but wasn’t arrested.

“The car broke down we believe after they were taking her body to the woods. They [Bruce and George] walked to try to get some help from a guy at the shooting range, and he thought it was kind of suspicious the way they were acting, so he called Hale County deputies,” said Lt. Kip Hart with the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit.

Belcher was nearby too walking the opposite way from Bruce and George.

“He said his car broke down, and he was looking for a ride,” Hart said.

“Other than being a strange character, there was no reason to detain him or anything like that, so he was allowed to leave.”

The deputies who encountered the three last week remembered the run-ins after Payne’s body was discovered.

“It just so happened that the deputies that were working recalled everything from a week ago … so we kind of started piecing stuff together and found enough evidence and witness statements to charge Bruce and Belcher last night with capital murder,” Hart said.

According to Payne’s Facebook profile, she studied at Wallace Community College Selma, but according to school officials Payne is not currently enrolled.
