Concordia College Alabama’s football season ended Saturday following a 49-7 loss to Point University.
The loss capped a winless season for the Hornets (0-10). Concordia led an eleventh game against Clark-Atlanta 17-7 in the third quarter, but the game had to be ruled a no contest after bad weather stopped the game.
Saturday’s first half against Point was close, but the Skyhawks pulled away in the second half with four third quarter touchdowns.
Point quarterback Charles Fortis completed touchdown passes to Charles Ducksworth and Connor Reed to put his team up 14-0 in the second quarter.
Concordia answered with a touchdown run by Krisopher Kimble with 3:42 left before halftime.
It was all Point in the second half.
Ladarrius Mathis and Christian Williams ran for second half touchdowns for Point, which totaled 277 yards rushing against the Hornets. Fortis also threw passes to Charles Ducksworth and Jeremy Denton in the second half.
The Concordia run game was stuffed most of the afternoon, as the Hornets finished with only 62 yards. Concordia’s James Crosby and William Jordan combined to throw for 127 yards but completed only 12 of 32 passes in the game. Fortis was 19-of-31 for 258 yards and four touchdowns.
Point moves onto the NAIA National Tournament, while Concordia’s season came to a close after the game.
