New terminal is long overdue

The new terminal at Craig Field Airport is long overdue.

For years, private pilots who have come into Selma via Craig Field have complained about the lack of services provided here.

By April, those complaints should turn into compliments when the new terminal, “the new front door to Selma and Dallas County,” as airport and industrial authority executive director Menzo Driskell says, becomes a reality.

Other than appeasing pilots who fly into Craig Field, this terminal gives economic development officials another chip with which to ante up when recruiting new businesses.

Plus, the new terminal will provide a better first impression of the area when dignitaries or captains of industry fly into historic Craig Field

And Dallas County officials were wise to join forces with the state for the $400,000 state-of-the-art facility. Once completed, this terminal will be the third completed and the first of the medium-size terminals designed by the state.

With the dollar-for-dollar match Dallas County and Selma come out in a win-win situation.
