Harold Carter Veazey Cosby

Harold Carter Veazey Cosby, a longtime resident of Selma, died of natural causes Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015.

Born Sept. 11, 1924, Harold was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very warm and loving person, who always had time for friends and family.

Harold was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee Veazey, her son, John Robert Veazey, her second husband, Roy P. Cosby, Sr., mother, Ophelia Carter, father, John Sears Carter, and brothers, John Burton Carter and Henley Carter.

Harold is survived by her daughter, June V. Sullivan, daughter in law, Diane Veazey, grandsons, Keith Robert Sherrell and John David Veazey, granddaughters, Caril Veazey (Taylor) Shepard and Cathy Veazey (Justin) Adams, great granddaughters, Kaila and Kylie Veazey, brother, Donald Carter, sister, Hilda Ruth Griffin, sister in law, Janice Carter Baker, and a host of relatives and friends, including Bobby Gregg and Ernestine Elam.

Harold was an active member of First Baptist Church. She was also an active member of the Vaughn Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for 28 years, holding various positions.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Light officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanton.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Sherrell, John David Veazey, Taylor Shepard, Justin Adams, Ben Cosby and Roman Carter.
