Dear editor,

I would like to thank the Reverend F.D. Reese and his family for bringing such love and perseverance to the front in their lives here in Selma. Their peaceful demeanor and their love for all peoples brings honor to the God they serve. It was a privilege to meet Mr. Reese in the meetings for the Unity March last spring.

Also, his daughter Christa was part of the Unity Quilt gathering, and I was blessed by her sweet personality.

There was no looking at me wondering why I was there, being a white woman and all. I was accepted for who I was, and they were accepted for who they were.

That was good, like the description of brotherhood in Psalm 133 … “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in unity! … for there the Lord has commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.”

I, too, wish to give honor to this family for their service to all people in this city, for their belief in justice, for their honoring God by the way they live.
