Craig Alvin Johnson, age 51, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016.

He graduated from Autauga Academy where he excelled in sports. He graduated with honors, magna cum laude, from the University of South Alabama with a degree in physical therapy. He was a math genius beginning at a very early age, a trait inherited from his Grandpa Rainwater. He established his own private practice in physical therapy after first working at an east Montgomery hospital as a physical therapist. He subsequently sustained a severe brain injury from a tragic car accident, and he was never able to return to his practice. From a small child to adulthood, Craig loved animals.

He is survived by his parents, Milton and Jeannie Johnson of Statesville; a brother, Judge Paul W. Johnson of Montgomery; and a son, Matthew Craig Johnson of Montgomery, many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews; and a special “grandmother” Roberta Wilson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Milton Johnson; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Alvin Rainwater Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Carson Whitson Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Marc Johnson, Jessie Wilson, Wade Silas, Glenn Ray, Boyd Wainwright, Bud Burt and Bert Ousley.

Funeral services will be at Ivy Creek United Methodist Church in the Statesville-Mulberry Community in Autauga County on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Lucas officiating. Visitation will be prior to the funeral service from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the church.
