Multiple Easter egg hunts will be held over the weekend. The annual Selma Easter Extravaganza and Living Waters Worship Center and The New Shady Grove The Word Ministry churches will each provide wholesome family fun for the community.

“We want to bring positivity to the community of Selma,” said Sarrell Dental community outreach manager Caren Kirtdoll.

The third annual Selma Easter Extravaganza will be held at Bloch Park beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The event is sponsored by the city of Selma, Pettway’s Party Stop and Sarrell Dental.

The extravaganza is free to the public and will include free photos with the Easter Bunny, games, face painting and an egg hunt. Photos with the Easter Bunny will be from 10 – 11 a.m. The egg hunt, geared for ages 12 and younger, will begin at 11 a.m.

Pettway’s Party Stop owner Leslie Pettway said this year’s event will include more activities, better prizes and free snacks.

She said although the egg hunt is geared for younger children, there will be activities and prizes for people of all ages.

The extravaganza was created three years ago by Pettway to bring more activities for the community to look forward to annually.

Kirtdoll said she is excited to help provide community fun to the city.

“Putting a smile on kids’ faces, that’s what I’m looking forward to the most,” Kirtdoll said.

Living Waters Worship Center, located at 92 Deepwoods Drive in Valley Grande, will be hosting its 2016 Easterpalooza at noon Saturday. The event will include a Russian egg roulette tournament, egg hunt, egg drop with over 15,000 candy filled eggs, cupcake battle and puppies from Wannabe Rescued, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

On Sunday, The New Shady Grove “The Word Ministry” will be hosting an Easter hunt and activities beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the corner of Highway 80 and Highway 41.

“That’s the future home of our new church,” said public relations director Sheila Simpson.

The event will include the famous rabbit of New Shady Grove, free live bunnies and prizes. Simpson said the event is open to the public and encourages families to come.
