Dr. Beth Marx passed away on April 6, 2016. Beth, the daughter of Robert H. Marx and Joan (Leva) Marx, was born in Terre Haute, Indiana. In 1963, Beth and her family moved to Selma. She attended Parrish High School and Tulane University/Sophie Newcomb College, where she graduated summa cum laude. Soon after graduation from Newcomb, Beth moved to California and attended Life Chiropractic College-West, where she also graduated summa cum laude. Beth then opened a highly successful practice in chiropractic medicine and acupuncture which she ran for over 30 years. Beth, a licensed chiropractor in both California and Alabama, was also a state licensed qualified medical evaluator of injured workers in California. Beth was known for her depth of scientific understanding of the human body that was coupled with profound empathy for her patients. Though retired for two years, she regularly received calls from former patients who could not receive comparable care elsewhere.
Beth is survived by her sister, Amy (Marx) Goodman, her brother-in-law, Leland Goodman, her nephew and niece, Robert Goodman and Ellen Goodman, her great niece, Abigail Goodman; and her nieces, Jodie Goodman and Lauren Goodman. In addition, Beth is survived by her cousins Joan Looney, Gail Gibian, Richard and Kathy Gibian, Jim Mayer, John and Kitsey Mayer, Peggy and Gary Heatherington, Rob Deutsch, and Jan and Ray Ott.
Beth was preceded in death by her mother, Joan; her father, Robert; her aunt, Betty Rose (Leva) Gibian and her uncle Richard Gibian.Graveside services will be held at Live Oak Cemetery in Selma at 10 am on Monday April 11 with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
