Celebrating Nurses Week in Selma
Published 9:08 pm Thursday, May 12, 2016
Happy Nurses Week from the Senior Nurses of Selma/Dallas County. Let’s celebrate our noble profession and the many contributions that have been made by millions of nurses worldwide and have made to the health and well-being of patients and their families.
These dates were chosen for our celebration because Florence Nightingale ‘s birthday, the founder of modern nursing and perhaps the most revered nurse of all times, occurred. Let’s all recall the Florence Nightingale Pledge, which was composed in her honor:
“I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.”
Whether you are a nurse or a consumer, please take time to thank the nurses in your life for all that they do!
Happy Nurses Week to all nurses and especially the Good Samaritan grads.
May God continue to bless us all.
