The Selma Parks and Recreation Department playoffs are underway. Below are scores from playoff games on May 25. Check future editions of the Times-Journal for the latest updates on each of the playoff series.
11 and 12 Baseball
Bent Tree 10, VFW 3
Bent Tree’s Robert Beers and Steven McCullough scored two times apiece Wednesday as Bent Tree staved off elimination. Noah Smith, Nathan Johnson, Randall Beers, Robert Moore, Matthew Wright and John Autery also scored for Bent Tree. Arthur Vaughn and Kenneth Dukes scored for Bent Tree.
7 and 8 Softball
Sierra Mist 12, First Cahawba 3
Sierra Mist is one win away from being named 7-and 8-year-old softball champions. Jaden McGee and Breanna Bennett scored three runs apiece Wednesday to lead Sierra Mist past First Cahawba 12-3. Marianna Drammeh, Kensley Browder, Madison Hudson and Amirrah Brown also scored one run apiece for Sierra. Jamesha Prevo, Cadreanna Moore and Christy Hasberry scored for First Cahawba.
Cougar Chevron 14,
American Legion 12
Cougar Chevron held off a late rally by American Legion Wednesday for a 14-12 win over American Legion in an elimination game. Ashanti Davis scored three times for Cougar Chevron in the win and Clara Lockhart and Audrey Lumpkin scored two runs apiece. Addison Bond led the way for American Legion with three runs scored.
11 and 12 softball
Taylor Sports 9, Frasier-Ousley 8
Taylor Sports edged Frasier Ousley 9-8 in an elimination game Wednesday evening. Alexis Walker and Triniti Jones scored two runs apiece for Taylor Sports. Karnesha Gibson, Hayden Primm, Eyeyanna Bell, Destiny Baker and Janya Howard also scored for Taylor Sports. Anne Kathry Hagwood and Anna Grace Small scored for Frasier-Ousley.
9 and 10 baseball
Frazer Group 13, Lion’s Club 3
Walter Gilmore, Aiden Foley and Tristan Wall scored two runs apiece Wednesday as Frazer Group topped Lion’s Club 13-3 in an elimination game. Jalen Prince, Jack Whiddon, George Fails, MJ Reese, Barron Frazer, Harrison Jones and Shamar Jones also scored for Frazer. Titus Lanier, Shon McClure and Jadarius Lewis scored one run apiece for Lion’s Club.
7 and 8 baseball
Captain D’s 10, Robinson’s 0
Rashod Martin and Cedrick Simmons scored twice to lead Captain D’s past Robinson Legal 10-0 inn elimination game. Captain D’s will play Trustmark Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals.
Swift Drugs 13, Cougar Chevron 3
Swift Drugs defeated Cougar Chevron 13-3 Wednesday to advance to the championship game. Swift will play the winner of Friday’s Trustmark-Captain D’s game.
Looking Ahead
There were no playoff games on Thursday night due to the high school graduations going on around the county. Games will resume Friday evening at the Dallas County Sportsplex and the first championship game will be played Saturday. The majority of the championship games will be played next week.
