McKenzie R. “Mac” Griffis passed away June 10, 2016, at the age of 80. He was born October 10, 1935, to the late Henry Irvin Griffis and Leah Carolyn Jackson Griffis.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Diane May.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Roberta D. Griffis; daughter, Cynthia L. Holder; son-in-law, Robbie L. May; grandchildren, Thomas M. (Cathy S.) May, Kellie L. (Gregory) Russell, Jonathan W. May, Jacob A. May, Evan M. Wiggins and Nicholas G. Wiggins; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He retired after 30-plus years with Liberty National Life Insurance Company and was the owner of Griffis Construction Company.

Graveside services will be Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Selma on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m.
