A 37-year-old Selma man is recovering from injuries after being shot in the back over the weekend.
The Selma Police Department responded to a call of a gunshot victim at Vaughan Regional Medical Center just after 8 p.m. Saturday.
“He had a gunshot wound to the right side of his back that came out through his chest and was lodged in his left hand,” said Selma Police Department Lt. Sam Miller.
The victim told authorities he was standing next to his vehicle on St. Phillips Street about to leave when he heard gunfire.
“When he heard a shooting, he fell to the ground and discovered he was shot,” Miller said.
The victim is in stable condition and underwent surgery on Monday, according to Miller.
Investigators currently have no suspects and are investigating the case.
