Two elderly Selma residents were robbed at gunpoint in their home Tuesday evening.
The Selma Police Department responded to a call of a robbery on the 2100 block of Bienville Street.
According to police, a 68-year-old woman and her 62-year-old husband were at home when two men knocked on their back door.
“When the wife opened the door, she was met with a masked subject with a handgun demanding property,” said Sgt. Ray Blanks.
Afterward, the suspects led the woman back into the living room where her husband was. There, the suspects took 23 dollars and a small handgun from the woman’s purse, Blanks said.
Authorities said no one was injured during the incident.
The victims reported seeing the suspects flee on foot.
Blanks advises residents to be more aware and to take extra caution after dark.
“Try to put extra lights around your house,” Blanks said. “If you don’t have an alarm system, get one.”
