The city of Valley Grande is starting a co-ed softball league for adults.
The league will hold registration July 22-Aug. 12 at city hall in Valley Grande and will be for anyone 15 years old and up.
“I’ve had a lot of people come up to me wanting something for the adults to do beside just sitting around the house so I decided to try co-ed [softball],” said Valley Grande recreation director Bubba Holley.
Each team can have between 9-14 teams, but must have an equal number of males and females.
Games will take place on Thursday evenings, but could also be scheduled for Tuesdays too. The season is expeted to start in mid to late August.
Holley said the schedule depends on how many teams there are, but games will be played during the week.
“By that time you’ll get into high school football and college football, and I didn’t want to take away from anybody seeing any of that,” Holley said.
The cost is $300 per team and it can be paid by individuals or sponsors. Holley said he already had about five or six teams interested in participating.
